op-ed's
In humanities we had to pick a subject to make a op-ed about. for mine I decided to do gun rights.
Social Change Project
In humanities we were learning about social change. We went over voting rights, the Chicago 7, women rights, etc. After learning about social change we started to work the exhibition for social change. For that me and a group made a mural.
Artist Statement
Our project demonstrated collaboration in a group, hard working, and problem solving skills. Our project was to create a mural for the start of our humanities exhibition on social change, it shows diverse groups protesting for social change movements. We only used movements that were none-political like “me too”, “no planet B”, and :my body my choice”. While working on the mural everyone was assigned a task each day to complete for example on day one we all worked on priming our canvas. For the next few days we worked on our sketch and on the days after that we worked on the flag and protestors. The flag was one of the biggest challenges on our mural because of the flags waving and of the number of stars and stripes that had to be added. We overcame this challenge by discussing every step of creating the flag with all of our other group members and trying over and over until we got the look we wanted. Everyone participated to their fullest amount and we are all very proud with the work we have come up with. This project pushed each of us to our creative limits and was a great piece of collaborative art.
